Its Advisors include Adalsteinn Brown, Director, Institute for Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, Dalla Lana Chair in Public Health Policy; Connie Clerici, President and CEO, Closing the Gap Healthcare;  Eric Morse, Professor & Executive Director, Morrissette Institute for Entrepreneurship, Ivey Business School Western University;  Gil Eiges, Founder and President, Canico Business Innovation;  John Breakey, CEO at Fivel Systems Corporation; and Mark Angelo, Chief Executive Officer at LMC Diabetes & Endocrinology.

Adalsteinn D. Brown

Adalsteinn (Steini) Brown is the Director of the Institute for Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto and the Dalla Lana Chair of Public Health Policy at the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health. He is a Scientist at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute at St. Michael’s Hospital and Senior Fellow at Massey College. Past roles include Assistant Deputy Minister for Strategy and Policy at the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care and for Science and Research at the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation, and Principal Investigator for the Hospital Report Project that created scorecards covering more than 95% of hospital care in Ontario.

He received his undergraduate degree in government from Harvard University and his doctorate from the University of Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. He has received several leadership awards including being named one of Canada’s “Top 40 Under 40” in recognition for his work on performance measurement. He has held founding roles in consulting, software, and Internet companies and has advised the World Health Organization, banks, software and insurance companies, and health care providers in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Connie Clerici

Connie Clerici is the CEO and passionate founder of Closing the Gap Healthcare Group. Closing the Gap’s nearly 2000 healthcare professionals provide a continuum of professional services that includes nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, social work, personal support, dietetics and future care cost consulting.

Connie’s passion is to help those most in need in society, and to accept full accountability for doing so. She requires that ethics and compassion accompany sound business practices.  Connie actively embraces change, while making a concerted effort to build and support a high-quality, publicly-funded healthcare system that is sustainable for Canadians.

Connie’s contributions to healthcare, entrepreneurship and the business community have been acknowledged through numerous awards including the 2012 Mississauga Board of Trade Business Award of Excellence, the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, RBC 2010 Excellence in Entrepreneurship, the ICCO Business Excellence award, the Federated Press Women Leader of the Year Award. Connie has been inducted into the Hall of Fame of Canada’s Most Powerful Women.

Connie is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree in Nursing along with extensive business and leadership education. Connie currently sits as a board member or advisor at both the Ivey Business School and Ivey’s Pierre Morrissette Institute for Entrepreneurship, as well as Salus Global Corporation, Women of Influence and Humn Pharmaceuticals Inc.. She was recently appointed as an Adjunct Lecturer, University of Toronto Institute Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, 2015.

Eric Morse

Eric Morse is a Professor at the Ivey Business School (University of Western Ontario) where he is also the Executive Director of the Morrissette Institute for Entrepreneurship. Eric also founded KPMG Enterprise’s QuantumShift Executive Program for Exceptional Entrepreneurs which has inspired hundreds of Canada’s best and brightest entrepreneurs and companies to reach new heights.

Dr. Morse’s research focuses on entrepreneurial cognition and entrepreneurial strategy, and has been published in the Academy of Management Journal, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, the Journal of Business Venturing, the Journal of Management, The Strategic Management Journal, and the Sloan Management Review.

Dr. Morse holds a PhD in Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management, an MBA and a Bachelor of Science Industrial Engineering all from Texas Tech University.

Gil Eiges

Gil Eiges is the President and founder of Canico Business Innovation. He also serves as an advisor and mentor to various start-up companies in Israel and Canada. Past roles include progressive strategic and leadership positions at Amdocs where his last role was VP of Innovation.

Gil holds a BA in Economics and International Relations from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and a MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics.

John Breakey

John Breakey is the CEO at Fivel Systems Corporation. A serial entrepreneur in the Information Technology (IT) industry, John founded Fivel Systems in 2012 (Fivel is an Online learning company specializing in the effective adoption of technology). Prior to Fivel, John founded UNIS LUMIN Inc., a systems integration company that grew into a national IT services provider with 5 offices across Canada and $75M in revenue before he sold the company in 2011. John also formed a software company (Genuit) and co-founded, Genuit and co-founded 1nService Inc..

Mr. Breakey has an extensive background in leadership management, Board governance, growth companies, human behavior and innovation strategies. He is a sought-after speaker, contributing writer and thought leader in trade publications and is actively involved in the IT industry as Director and Past Chair of the IT Association of Canada.

Mark Angelo

Mark Angelo is the CEO and President at LMC Diabetes & Endocrinology and is an accomplished healthcare executive with a proven track record for leading high growth healthcare provider organizations in both the US and Canada. Prior to joining LMC, Mark was Vice President, Innovation and Business Development at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), where he was responsible for advancing hospital strategic priorities related to operational excellence, innovation, business development and growth.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Toronto and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
